How GeBIZ Government Tenders Work
GeBIZ is the Singapore Government's one-stop e-procurement portal. When a company on this site shows a government tender award, its name matched an award record in the Ministry of Finance's GeBIZ dataset on data.gov.sg.
What GeBIZ is
GeBIZ describes itself as the Singapore Government's one-stop e-procurement portal, where all of the public sector's invitations for quotations and tenders are posted. Suppliers use it to search for procurement opportunities, download tender documents and submit their bids online. Government procurement notices, tender schedules (the bids received after a tender closes) and tender awards are published there.
How a tender becomes an award
The Government's procurement rules set the procedure by the estimated value of the purchase, for goods or services. A Small Value Purchase, up to $6,000, may be made directly. Quotations are invited up to $90,000, and above $90,000 the purchase must go to tender, by open, selective or limited tendering. In an Open Tender, all suppliers may participate by responding to the tender notice. Tenders are awarded to the bid that brings the best value for money for the public sector, taking a holistic approach, so the lowest price does not always win. A business that wants to bid may be required to register with the relevant Government Registration Authorities; suppliers of construction-related goods and services need to register with the Building and Construction Authority.
The GeBIZ dataset this site uses
The Ministry of Finance publishes "Government Procurement via GeBIZ" on data.gov.sg. Its description says it lists all open tenders put out by government agencies since FY2021, so it starts in April 2021 and does not include earlier awards. It records the winning supplier by name, without a UEN.
How this site matches an award to a company
Because the dataset has no UEN, we match by name. Both names are put in capitals with punctuation removed and "Pte. Ltd." reduced to "Pte Ltd", and an award counts as a match only if exactly one live, eligible company has that normalised name. When two companies would share a normalised name, neither is credited with the award. The tender totals on a company's page are therefore a lower bound, not a complete record — see data sources & methodology.
Where to see it on this site
A company with matched awards has a "Government tenders awarded" table on its page, and the amount appears in the KPI row at the top. Agency names in that table link to the agency's own page, which lists the companies it has awarded tenders to.
What an award does and doesn't tell you
A matched award shows that the company won a public-sector tender that was published on GeBIZ, from FY2021 onward. It does not show that the company is registered as a supplier now, is eligible to bid today or holds a current contract. For current opportunities and supplier registration, use GeBIZ itself at gebiz.gov.sg.
